Dr. Banting and Dr. Best


1920 Dr. Banting and Dr. Best - Insulin Development: Frederick Banting, a scientist in Ontario, Canada studied the dynamics of diabetes. He and a partner, Charles Best, first had the idea to use insulin to treat diabetes in 1920. He tested his theory in animal experiments. The method involved removing the pancreas of a dog and injecting it with extracted pancreatic islets. They managed to keep a the dog alive throughout a summer.
